A Spotlight on KAIA

Our little girl started Preschool this September. The beginning of the rest of her life. There's no turning back now. She'll have school forever now. ( well it seemed like forever to me). She attends a private Preschool just 4 houses down on our same street. So it's nice she can walk. Deion and I walk her there 2 days out of the week. She's really enjoying herself with the other kids and she is actually learning and retaining what she learns there. They focus on a different letter every week and learn and do all sorts of fun things about that letter.

This is Kaia on her first day of school

She has been wanting to go to school ever since she first saw yellow school buses.

This Kaia's with her school bag and her new bike Daddy bought for her

KAIA has also been dancing in our Kapa Haka group. We're called KO NGATI HIONA (the people of Zion) We Sing and dance about our heritage from New Zealand. In the summer months we have alot a shows. We usually dance for festivals, church groups, companies, neighborhoods, weddings, pretty much anywhere people want a Luau. Sometimes we cook the traditional food (pork and potatoes in the ground) or sometimes just the show.
We have about as many kids dancing as adults. Kaia is the second to youngest one who dances. I have to say she totally steals the show. She is awesome at the words and the singing loud but just needs to work on smiling more and sticking to the actions and not getting distracted.

This was at a festival that happened to be by somes fields with a few cows or horses in them. Well right between somes songs Kaia said kinda loud "eeww it stinks". Well the mics totally pick that up and the croud and us cracked up.

I'm so proud of her. She actually enjoys getting up in front of hundreds of people and performing. This is her swinging the Poi Balls.

Our New Arrival

Baby girl Raevyn

Our sister Brandy had Raevyn Moore on the 23rd of June 2009.
She's the main reason we went to S
t. Louis. To visit our beautiful niece. And she was so worth the trip.

Here's the proud Mommy (Brandy) and Daddy (Curtis)

While we were there, we spent time with the Family and of course had to get our BBQ on.

Here is Marvin's immediate family (
with spouses and kinds)
Kaia, Marvin, Vernice (MOM). Lamont (BRO), Jada (SIS i
nlaw), La Monica (niece), Beelyn, Deion,
Brandy (SIS), Baby Raevyn (niece), and Brandy (niece)

ST. LOUIS

We went to St. Louis Missouri this summer to visit Family. Now we go to either St. Louis or Chicago every year, but I have to say that this time was the Best. Usually it's so hot and humid that we stay inside in the AC all day everyday. But this year the weather was perfect. We could actually go outside and site see.

This is The Famous Forest Park. There's so much to do here like the huge museum ( the guys wouldn't go in) and the Huge ZOO, which is FREE admission & 50 times better than our Utah ZOO.

We had a fun day site seeing with Uncle Lamont (Marvin's older brother) and cousin Brandy ( Marvin's niece)

Happy
Independence
Days

We just love this time of year. The 4th of July (the US independence day) & The 24th of July (UTAH's independence day). Two sets of parades & carnivals and two sets of Fireworks.

Kaia and Deion love the Parades, I don't know if it's the colorful floats & cars & musical bands OR all the candy that gets thrown to them. My guess is the candy.

So we ended up going to 3 different parades & 3 different Firework shows. And loved them all. Kaia has always loved the big fireworks shows (except the big boom ones), but Deion did better and was more interested this year.

This is us at the Centerville and West Bountiful parades. An old fire truck broke down in the parade right in front of us. So Marvin jumped up and was one of the guys to push the truck off the road and out of the way. It was funny.

Summer fun
For Kaia

Ok...so...we went to the Salt Lake City Arts Festival for the first time this year, and we had a lot of fun. I had no idea all the things there are to do and see for kids. I thought it was just a bunch of booths with weird art and spicy food. Those were there too, but I saw cool art as well. When I am rich and need to decorate my house, I'm gonna go to the arts festival to buy, not just look.

But anyway, there was this whole section just for kids. We didn't even get to half the stuff, but Kaia was able to paint on a wall, (which she loved) and played a tiny violin just her size, tried a trumpet and other neat art stuff. Deion was there too but strapped into the stroller.(no way was I gonna let him loose in there.)

So anyway next year we are defenatley going again and this time we'll spend more time there.
